Orangatang Releases 86a Race Lineup

August 24th, 2010

The Orangatang crew has unleashed the 4 President and In Heat wheels in their 86a yellow formula. With offset hubs and sharp lips, these wheels are designed to maintain speed and grip. Combining race-style shapes with a harder durometer yields a wheel that not only rolls fast and sticks lines but also releases into an exceptionally smooth and controllable drift. While these wheels excel at downhill and freeriding, their long and predictable slides lend them to freestyle and all-around riding.

Yellow 4 Presidents and In Heats will be available September 3rd at select shops worldwide.

Skate[Slate], Never Summer, and Bern Helmets are looking for the next big thing. The three companies are collaborating to bring you the “So You Think You Can Skate” competition for the next 30 days, ending September 15th at 11:59pm. We are looking for longboard skate tricks, racing maneuvers, big air, big slides, etc… we are looking to be impressed. If the video makes your friends go “WoW”, then you have something worthy to submit. If the video makes your mom or girlfriend say “Wow”, then get a second opinion from your dad or buddies… moms & girlfriends always say “Wow”. Basically we’re looking to be impressed. So how about the film quality? Yes, it does matter, but not as much. If you can film with a good camera, take time to edit your video, use a tripod, or add some cool graphics.. it definitely makes a difference.. but it’s not the primary aspect we are judging, it’s secondary. Read on for rules, prizes, and tips.

Looks like Landyachtz is stepping up their game with a new monthly newsletter. The first volume just went out last week and it looks like this is something they are going to keep regular at. At least that's their stated intention.

I've been a big fan of the Loaded Newsletter for quite some time. It's been consistent, always has good links to user videos, and keeps you up to date with the Loaded/Orangatang news. The biggest thing though, it's been consistent. Newsletters that come out randomly every 4-6 months are lame and send me right to the unsubscribe button because they feel more like spam than anything else.

Landyachtz is a one of the larger core companies and has plenty of factory and local Vancouver scene news to share, so hopefully they do indeed stick with it. If you want to sign up for the Landyachtz Newsletter you can do so via the top right of their homepage at www.landyachtz.com.

Leading the Tribe
Sayshun is looking to spotlight local shops and riders who support their
community and grow the sport of longboarding!

How it Works
We are doing a call out to local shops to ask for nominations of riders who
support their local community by doing one (or all) of the following:

1. Produce media
2. Post how-to content
3. Push the sport and what is possible
4. Organize events, sessions, etc.
5. Just an all around good person

From there nominations will be researched on our side. Then once a month/
week (depending on our responses) we will spotlight the rider and the local
shop on our website. We have also created a very exclusive tshirt for the
rider (that cannot be purchased) as recognition of their efforts.
