Ari C. wins Golden Gate Park race, makes ridiculous face

The Golden Gate Park race was a grand old time this weekend. The weather was great and it was a perfect day for a skate. The icing on the cake came when Ari Chamasmany turned on the afterburners in the crucial last moments of the race and pulled out the win. Congratulations dude!

The race started off at the east end of Golden Gate park, with a horde of skaters making their way down to Ocean Beach. A slight gradient made for a relaxing and easy push through the park, while tourists gawked and a few novice skaters managed to find trouble where there was none. I’m not one to really enjoy pushing, but it’s pretty enjoyable when all the work is taken out of it. Some people really went for it, while others (myself included) chose to enjoy the scenery. A mad push to the finish line produced the following results:

1. Ari Chamasmany
2. Martin Carmody
3. David Hiltbrand

Everyone then piled onto the beach in anticipation of some fresh BBQ, only to find out that a Spare The Air alert had been called into effect for the day, making wood fires illegal. Pizza made a quick substitution and happy skaters got sand in their shoes while plotting the remainder of their day.

After prizes were handed out, everyone split up to go shred various spots around the city and make use of the remaining winter sunlight. Major thanks to Austin, California Bonzing Co., and the Sunset Sliders for putting on a fun winter event.
