A Few Kids On Skateboards In The Canyons
[wptouch target=”mobile”] [/wptouch]It’s been a long time since a weekend like this has come around, a day of nothing. Nowhere to be, no traveling, no events, no slide jam, no race, no hurry. It was a weekend of doldrums, not a lick of wind in the sails, just coasting. I’ve come to relish these times. Like a child in a sandbox, these lulls in the proverbial skate storm allow for blissful moments of pure self expression. No one to show off for, just pure freestyle skateboarding in its essence. An entire uninterrupted weekend of earth surfing in Malibu, skateboarding for skateboarding’s sake.
It was during this weekend that I learned to connect and appreciate my surroundings all over again. The simple aspect of being home with nothing pressing on the agenda. A chance to venture out into the rolling mountains of Malibu, allowing the terrain to bring out the best in us. This is where you’ll witness the best downhill skateboarding. Not on a race track or in a slide competition, but in a canyon with no cell phone reception.

It was a weekend of reconnection, a renewing of our vows to the sport. A weekend of nothing, and a few kids on skateboards in the canyons.
Thanks for reading, now go skate.
