The 2013 Sector9 Turkey Jam (Reprise)[wptouch target=”mobile”]
When we traditionally think of thanksgiving, we imagine a time where all the odds and ends of flesh and blood get together for one grandiose day (two if you count the day-after recovery) of feast and family. It’s a day that we take very seriously here in the United States. A time of bonding, reconnection, sharing, welcoming. A time where we journey from far and wide to a place specifically to celebrate the aspect of being together. So with this idea in mind, Sector 9 has made it a point, that after all the food is done, after all the in-laws have stuffed their faces and made their way back home, that the weekend after is a occasion to celebrate the holidays yet again, except this time around, with your extended skate family.

Characters from all over the SoCal scene ventured from near and far to get together with their extended S9 family to celebrate the season of shred. Boards, blaring Iron Maiden, BBQ’ing, and Danny Conner in a turkey suit heckling everyone via the PA… what more could someone seeking a weekend sojourn of shred ask for?
So as the day progressed and the shadows grew long, skaters young and old rejoiced over an afternoon of slides and an exchange with kindred spirits. Conversations and stories shared of past summer exploits, travels to foreign lands, victories at home and abroad. An excuse for everyone to get together and enjoy a rockin’ afternoon of sunshine and shred. A collection of people that may not specifically be related by blood, but share a common obsession with the same simple thing. We may only have a handful of days each year to come together and enjoy all the idiosyncrasies of our crazy extended skate family, but the Sector 9 Turkey Jam is one specifically for Southern California, that you don’t want to miss.
A huge thanks to Sector 9 for hosting such a rad event, can’t wait for next year!
Now get jazzed for the holidays, and go skate.
