Boneyard: Skate & Explore Europe Part 1

Last fall the crew (Guff, Jacob Lambert, Dillon Stephens, Charlie Darraga) and I took off for a 30+ day trip through 13 different countries in Europe. The purpose of the trip is to film a new #SkateandExplore video with Landyachtz. We accomoplished that objective and then some. If you haven’t watched the video, you are definitely missing out. There is some great bonus footage out now too. I definitely enjoyed the trip, but have had to hold back on sharing media until now. Please enjoy a barrage of iPhone pics from our trip that will give y’all a little insight into some aspects that didn’t make the video (for various reasons).

Before taking off on a big skate trip you need the appropriate gear. Landyachtz hooks us up with nothing but the finest!

Most Europeans drive small cars but the crew at Layback was kind enough to loan us their Sprinter van. This thing was rad except when we had to drive it around in some tiny alleys in Naples, Italy (I’ll explain more in blog post 2…).

I thought this was funny.

We’re a good lookin bunch.

This is the clock tower in Freiburg, Germany (where the trip started). I think Felix told me that they used to hang witches from this thing.

When in Germany, make sure you get a beer from The Koff.

When in Germany, make sure you get many beers.

God bless coffee and god bless mobile coffee carts. #onelove

When in god’s house, make sure you take a cell phone pic. It’s what he would want.

Charlie is now vegan. I wonder what changed…

IMG_1128_1
Charlie busted his pinky on this corner our first day of skating. It’s chill though. You don’t need a pinky to skate.

HA!

After Germany, we went to Milan, Italy to visit the Boardstyle shop.

Michele is rad and made sure we had plenty of cold beers. Gotta love Italian hospitality!

In Italy, chicken nuggets are called Nagghy Di Pollo. I’m not sure why but I was really tickled by that.

I’ll give you one guess on what flip flops I bought. Here’s a hint: FREEDOM

I appreciate this guy’s shirt. A lot.

Charlie got bricked on a road in Italy. Even with a full face helmet he managed to split his chin/neck open. He’s good now but it was a bit scary.

While Charlie was resting after a visit to the hospital, the rest of us went out for a night on the town. It was lit.

European snack (with the addition of Sriracha).

This is one section of a 10km road. Probably one of the best hills we skated on the whole trip.

IMG_1424_1
There was also a sweet sled/bobsled track at the top of the hill! Jacob approves.

The view from our hotel wasn’t too bad either.

Eat your vegetables!

The front of this scooter was a bit frightened.

I really want to do a European architecture tour but, unfortunately, I’m not sponsored to go look at churches.

IMG_1557_1
No time for this church so I did a drive-by.

Monaco selfie with Guff. We were definitely the palest guys there.

This big ol’ boat took us on the next leg of our trip; Corsica. I’ll end this post there and leave you with a link to the video so you can see the action from part one. Expect another post and video in the near future…
